This Thanksgiving, don’t just give thanks, give hope. In Pie in the Sky, chefs bake pies that volunteers sell in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving to support the vital food programs of the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation (PWA). Incredibly, a $35 pie can bring a meal to ten people with HIV/AIDS whose long term survival depends on proper nutrition. Last year we provided over 30,000 meals and the number of children who depend on our food bank has tripled since January. This exciting event and urgent cause have attracted chefs from such celebrated restaurants as Mildred Pierce and Canoe to bake pies. Pies are the desserts par excellence for Thanksgiving, when people give thanks for their good fortune. With Pie in the Sky, you can also give hope.

Whether you need a pie or not. “When I first started using the services at PWA, I had all 3 kids living with me. I believe that the food bank kept me alive at times … and kept me and my family together.” “Rather than feel guilty about not baking my own Thanksgiving dessert, “With just one e-mail I sold over 50 pies to colleagues in my office tower. They just loved it – delicious dessert, an important cause, and a great story to share around the dinner table. It’s a win-win situation.” “Pie in the Sky gives me a double source of satisfaction. I know that my pies are adding to Thanksgiving celebrations across the city. And I know that the proceeds from every pie are bringing a much needed meal to 10 people with HIV/AIDS. I’d like to give thanks to you who are buying pies, to the generous chefs who bake them – and to PWA. Doing good has never tasted better.” Lead Sponsor
